Is Rwanda for You?

Relocating to Rwanda can be an exciting experience, but having a local team to guide you through the process is essential. That’s where we step in. Our team of local experts will do their best to help you buy or rent anything from land and houses to even cars, anywhere in the country. The good news is that Rwanda’s laws are pretty straightforward for foreigners. You can secure a 99-year lease on property (basically like owning it) and we’ll walk you through every detail: finding spots that fit your budget and style, comparing prices, reviewing contracts, and registering all the paperwork with the Rwanda Land Office.

5 Reasons to Consider Moving

Life in Rwanda can offer that rare feeling of true safety. If you are from a country where this is particularly concerning to you, we can assure Rwanda will address that squarely. Here you can stroll home under the stars or let the kids play outside without clutching your keys for dear life. Rwanda consistently ranks among Africa’s safest nations, with famously low crime rates and a strong focus on security. We can tell you from experience: neighbors smile at each other, not at wallets.  I mean you have still got to be wary and careful. There are few occurrences of petit thefts like pickpocketing, but we hope you can understand that there are always bad actors in every society. We can definitely promise that you might never have such an encounter in Rwanda. EVER!

Imagine waking up to green hills as far as the eye can see – that’s Rwanda’s everyday view. The country is often called the “Land of a Thousand Hills,” full of secrets to explore. I remember in August 2025 when we had a tourist from The Netherlands who wanted to visit the Twin Lakes for a day. Upon arriving at the destination, he was stunned by the "untempered" lake surroundings, so much that he said "This is what my heart longs for..." Your morning jog might include lumbering past a group of gentle giants (very slowly, camera at the ready). There’s misty Nyungwe Forest – complete with canopy bridges over playful chimpanzees – and the emerald shores of Lake Kivu perfect for sunset brews. Every weekend here feels like a national-park adventure.

Rwanda lives up to its local greeting, “Muraho”, meaning hello or friend. The people here are famously polite, respectful, and community-focused, so you’ll probably be called “friend” faster than you can say akarabo. The culture is alive with music, dance, and vibrant crafts, and there’s even a growing expat community ready to welcome newcomers. In short order someone will invite you to share a meal or join a local dance – trust us, you won’t be a stranger for long.

Don’t imagine Rwanda is all charm and no convenience. There is a growing tech industry that perhaps you can contribute significantly to. Please do find time to attend some conferences and networking events regularly held at the Kigali Convention Center and Norrsken House. The country is surprisingly high-tech and forward-moving. Most homes have reliable electricity and high-speed internet on the way. Kigali, the capital, has good roads, fiber-optic Wi-Fi in many cafes, and plenty of new coworking spots (your home office will finally have mountain views). The economy is booming – even mid-2025 saw about 7.8% GDP growth – which means jobs and new ideas around every corner. Plus Rwanda is routinely ranked one of Africa’s easiest places to do business—takes about 48 hours to register a business, so if you dream of opening a café or launching a startup, you’ll find plenty of support and optimism here.

Prepare to have your socks and shoes knocked off by Kigali’s cleanliness. The country takes pride in it: Rwanda banned plastic bags back in 2008 and even has mandatory community clean-up days every month. The government openly supports sustainability, and Kigali was named one of Africa’s cleanest cities because of these efforts. What it means for you is spotless streets and fresh air – no littered plastic or trash to dodge on your morning jog. We joke that visiting Kigali is like walking in a giant public park, except the trees occasionally wave back at you.

Think of us as
your relocation wingmen

We can connect you with licensed real estate agents, trustworthy landlords, or sellers, and even show you how local financing or car imports work so you don’t end up paying double. Some people worry about being taken advantage of (who wouldn’t?) In Rwanda’s booming market, “it’s essential to remain vigilant against scams” – and that’s exactly why we exist. Remember, we talked about this a little above—this is one of the ways we think we can be of help to you. We understand how challenging moving to a new country can be. We will keep everything transparent from day one: no sketchy deals, no sudden fees. If you just need a rental car or truck to move your stuff, we’ve already vetted the good suppliers. So your biggest worry might be deciding which scenic route to take, not whether it’s safe.

We also make it fun

Want a house with a garden? We’ll find you one. Need a reliable driver or a used Toyota to zip through the hills? Done. We’ve even helped clients set up local Wi-Fi or hire honest craftsmen for home repairs. Basically, think of something you need in Rwanda – if it exists here, we’ll find it. No one wants a rookie mistake on a big move, so we handle the boring paperwork and detective work while you dream about Kigali’s cool nights. (Seriously, who wants to read endless contracts when there’s a sunset waiting?)

Explore Rwanda with Our 3-Day Tour

So… how do you know if Rwanda is right for you? Come see for yourself! We offer a friendly 3-day introduction tour that covers all the highlights and gives you a real feel for life here. On day one we might show you Kigali’s markets, art galleries, and skyline views – the city is small enough to explore quickly but big on charm. Day two could be a trek in Volcanoes National Park (gorilla suits optional) or an adventure in Nyungwe’s rainforest canopy. Day three might end with sunset beers by Lake Kivu and swapping stories by a bonfire. By the end of those three days you’ll either be head-over-heels for Rwanda or at least have epic travel stories (and hopefully lots of local brews).

In short, think of us as your local buddy in Rwanda. We run tours, set up safaris, and help folks start their new lives here. We handle everything from visa advice to apartment hunting to booking that perfect 3-day adventure. If you’re curious about Kigali’s growing food scene, we’ll take you on a food tour; if you want to see the countryside, we’ll arrange bicycles or a 4×4; if you just need to know where to find the best ugali, we’ve got you.

Ready to see Rwanda in action? Drop us a line and let’s plan your trip. We can’t promise you’ll book a plane home right away – but we sure hope you will. Rwanda might surprise you in all the best ways, and we’d love to show you around as friends. Gone are the days of wondering “what if” – let’s find out together, with zero hype and a lot of genuine smiles.
